Hi,

I am going to complete 5 years on green card by August 11, 2008. When can I file N-400 in Texas Service Center (TSC). I know I can file before 3 months. But can I file before 6 months? Also, how much time the N-400 is taking for Atlanta based applicants. Thank you so much for your response.

Thanks

Sure, you can even apply now if you want , but your application will be denied. That's like asking If you can go through traffic light if it's red..sure you can, but there will be penalties to your actions.
The official rule states that you are eligible to apply up to 90 days before the 5 year anniversary of your GC.
As for processing times for Atlanta, expect a minimum of 7-9 months.

Bobsmyth,

Thank you so much for you reply and you are right I can't cross the red light and ask if I can do that. Do you know any other documents I have to send other than the N-400 and application fee. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The N-400 comes with a nice set of instructions.
Aside from the form and money, they want your pictures.

Just send the application, fee and photos. Any other required documents will be asked during the interview phase.

Vellabadu! It might be a good idea for you to read the instructions that come with N-400. They are reasonably straightforward instructions.

Fill up N-400 completely and truthfully, remember to sign/date, attach a copy of your green card, 2 passport-size photos, a check for the fees, and send the package to USCIS by USPS priority mail or express mail.

Having said that, you have to read the instructions carefully, and add other stuff as it applies to your situation.

Don't forget to write your A # with # 2 pencil on the back of those 2 pictures you are going to send with the rest of the paperwork. Always try to send USCIS a personal check. This way it's lot easier to check with your bank if they ever cashed your check and how long to expect before you get your NOA in the mail.
