when I can drop the school?

Hello folks,
My husband got his citizenship last week finally. We didn't expect his name check would take over a year. In order to keep my legal status, I registered 3 classes to be a full time student starting this January.
My I485 will be mailed out next week and I'm wondering when I can drop the school to save some money. Does anybody know about this?

The moment you get a receipt for the I-485 you are in valid status. You can also apply for an EAD to work. You can drop classes now with no effect on your AOS.
 
But I'm afraid that by the time I get interview with the officer. what if they ask me to show all the evidence to prove that I'm in legal status all the time. What kind of status i'm having from the date i file I 485 to the interview date? Do I have to be a full time student untile the interview date?

Hi:

You will be in legal status as of the date your application is accepted/received by USCIS. When you receive a notice in the mail, acknowledging receipt of the I485 application, this will be proof of your AOS pending status.

You do NOT have to attend school until the interview.

If classes have already started some schools may let you drop the classes with a full refund before the end of the first or second week of classes. Look into the policies of whatever school you attend.
 
The Date your AOS application was received by USCIS( Notice date) you are in Legal Status and do not need to be enrolled in classes.

However if you have the time and have already paid for the classes why not stick it out through the semester. It will pay off 10x in the future! my 2 cents ;)
