when/how could I quit the job

Hi,

I'm stuck on L1B visa with a bluechip Desi company & need to know by when could I quit them. They pay peanuts. I'll be having my H1b coming in Oct this year (2007).

Here are my details about the entry & exit dates in US:

Entry Date(USA) Exit Date(USA) Days Outside U.S.
08/2002 01/2003 182 days
07/2003 04/2005 51 days
06/2005 01/2006 32 days
02/2006 Present


As per my calculation (excluding days I was out of US), I would complete my 5 years in Feb 2008.

Since the H1b would be coming in Oct, whats the time period I have to find a new job & to join new employer, and also make sure that I'm good to go with the H1 extn after completing my 6 year.

Your suggestion/advice would be much appreciated.

you must get your job offer and apply your H1 by April1, 2007 for Year 2008 quota.

But you can only start working form Oct 1, 2007

If you miss April 1, 2007 deadline, you may have to wait one more year to apply Year 2009 quota.
