I have to retake my prints because my Fingerprint Card has expired. I found out that after you get approved by an IO the N-400 will go to their supervisor and they go over your form once again for final approval so the Oath Letter can be sent out.
Well .... I pretty much was one of the ones who got caught after review.

Oh well ... 120 miles there for prints and 120 miles back ... ugh .... in the snow and sleet, lol.

I am not stuck in the Namecheck anymore because I got recommended for approval and if I were to be stuck in the Namecheck Option B would of been checked.

Urgh, just another step in the timeless system. So now supervisors will be swamped by our files and they will keep prolonging the process. How many superivsors are there? This will cause serious backlog to the point of insanity. Maybe I'm just starting to lose it over here, after learning we are stuck for 15 - 18 months last week and now this stuff. 1 step forward 2 steps back. Sorry to be in such a state of despair right now, but there is no excuse to have to be fingerprinted twice in a should be, simple application process.

I would think with all the increase of applications they should give more authority to the IO's to approve the applications, and schedule oath ceremonies all before we leave their office. I mean it is not that hard to add one more step at that point. The application is so simple, the ones that do not meet all criteria send to the supervisor, the rest approve and get on with it. USCIS makes no sense.

For me it was a smack in the face to be honest. I was awaiting a Oath Letter and there in the Mailbox is a Letter from the USCIS so of course I got excited and I open it and wham ... Fingerprint Notice.
So I called them and played dumb. Yes it says on the Notice my Fingerprint Card has expired but I just really wanted to know what is going on. So she went on and on and on and then said but you don't have to pay for it. Well yea, I sorta do. I have a 240 mile roundtrip. Are you gonna pay for my gas ? And if I don't go .... then they can deny my application. Ugh.
I'll find out more today believe me. I am gonna ask some questions that is going to make their head spin, lol

Are fingerprints for N400 only allowed at USCIS service centers? I remember with GC fingerprinting, the local police department and not the USCIS service center (200 miles away) was where I had my FP done.

by the way... you can't talk them out of it... if they want fingerprints, fingerprints they will get. Just have fun while you can. Eventually, you'll be cool my friend!

Drive safely :). I know this is frustrating. But as other forum posters have stated that all N-400's require a supervisor approval and maybe the reason why oath letters are not given at the day of the interview that doesnt make any sense because my DAO gave me the oath letter during my interview so either
a) the supervisor had already reviewed my file or
b) The DAO at Seattle CIS has the authority to approve applications without a supervisor review.

I do not get it..how do Finger Prints expire?

Didn't know they are like milk!!!

The fingerprints are only kept in the system for 15 months, after which they are automatically deleted. One would think that with the resources available to fedral agencies, they'd come up with a more efficient system of storing fingerprints. If Google could come up with a way to have free G-mail accounts that store over 5 GB of e-mail, why can't the USCIS come up with something similar???

ladybuggy, I remember you when I filed my app in Dec 2006. I got approved in March
2007 and sworn in Apr 2007. So hang on there, it will happen and don't sweat too
much about it.

So they took so long with her file and now want to see if she didn't become an aggravated felon since then, LOL. USCIS is so inefficient, pathetic.

Sorry about this Ladybuggy, I hope you get your oath letter for the holidays!
