What to do to follow up a recommended approval for asylum case

I got recommended approval in end of April 2010 from asylum office in Houston and was waiting for almost 11 months now. Still no news. My attorney followed it up 2 times and of course every time charged me extra just for calling asylum office.
The only respond I got from my attorney is my case has a hold in computer for clearance. I don’t have any idea how long I have to wait and I don’t feel good to pay 100$ each time my attorney calls asylum office. I would like to know is there a way to follow up recommended approval case officially? Can I do it myself? What can I do to push the process? I read somewhere folks contact congressman and ...

You can do the same as your attorney for a lot less $$$$

Thanks Bigjoe. The only problem is that the asylum office calimed that they can not do any thing to expedite the clearance process and it is out of their hand.

You got stuck in the name check process. The asylum office has no control over that.
