I hold my countries passport right now and it is valid. Do I need to bring that to the Oath Ceremony too or do I have to let the country I am originally from know that I am now a US Citizen or do they care ... just confused how it would work ....

Does your country allow dual citizenship?

I also need to add to this that I am not planning on traveling with my valid passport. I have been here since 2001 and just renewed it in 2004 so I just have it but never used it since I haven't gone anywhere outside since 2001. I am just curious if I need to write a letter to some german court or will the US Germany know ....

No need to bring your current foreign passport to the ceremony. Check with your embassy for procedure to surrender your passport. You could also get in touch with other German expatriates who could tell you what to do, or if it is possible at all to keep that passport.

This is what all I did the same day I took my oath:-

(1) Went to the SSA office and updated my status from "LPR" to "USC"
(2) Registered to vote with my county
(3) Went to the post office and applied for a US passport
(4) Called the Canadian consulate in Chicago and updated my information in their database
(5) Called the Pakistani consulate in Chicago and updated my information in their database

When you became a US Citizen you automatically lost your German citizenship. They will not automatically know, since the US Government does not inform them, but technically you are no longer a German citizen, so your passport is basically invalid. You will not be able to renew your German passport, at that time they would find out because the german consulate would ask to see your GC to make sure you haven't become a US Citizen hence lost your German citizenship.
There is no reason to do anything though, no need to tell them or surrender the passport. Just travel with your US passport from now on.

I also want to add that while in general Germany does not allow Dual Citizenship, an exemption can be granted if you can prove certain disadvantage and continous strong ties to Germany. However, such an exemption needs to be granted before you take to oath which doesn't seem to be the case here.
