i recently applied for GC ( my Nd is 12/30/2005) but last week i received a green letter from USCIS, Nebraska Center saying : "Preliminary review of your application indicates that you have not submitted the required medical examinationforms." And then they go on asking for I-693 and the supplemental. Is this an error or what??? As far as i know asylees don't need to send medical with application. Please let me know if anyone has any idea about this letter.
Thank you

Well, the reason they asked you not to send in medical exams was because due to the 10K cap it would take 20 years before they could process your file. Now the cap is gone the reason no longer holds.

Yeah, you suppose not to send medical examas. But after the cap was removed things are going fast. So, go ahead and submit the I-693. Good news, the medicals are only valid for one year. Conclusion you, me and all the people that have been asked to send I-693 will be approved before one year PERIOD

Check this out:
(NOTE: The I-693 should not be filed with the initial asylum based I-485 adjustment application. This information will be requested at the time of adjudication.)
It's a part of instructions for asylee adjustment form the USCIS website. So, thatguy did everything right.

The directions were changed in 2000 because they had a huge backlog. All I was saying above is that now the cap is history they might have reverted to the pre-200 policy of asking for medicals!!!!!!!!!!!

I am familiar with the history of the issue. My pont is that misleading information (including 10,000 cap on asylee adjustment) is still on the USCIS website.

The letter you recieved is a good sign. It means they are working on your application. Just follow their instructions for your own good. I've been stuck with this agency for 10 years and can tell that INS - USCIS is notorious for being completely dysfunctional and totally disorganized. The bottom line is do what they tell you to do. Good luck! :)
