What steps should we take after getting married?

I am going to get married to my USC fiance a week before my tourist visa expires. And it expires in 10 days. I know we need to hurry so that my status in the US is still valid. What should we do right after we get married? What types of applications should we file and where should they be filed? What is the latest we should file them? We live in Texas. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply, but I already checked that website and I must say it is a bit confusing, it's hard to find some of the information. Can you tell me what steps you took if you were in a similar situation?

Please, can anyone help? We need to act fast and are not completely sure what to do... The visa expires so soon...

Hi:

I mean this is in the best way possible. If you have problems with reading and assimilating the information on USCIS or on several other help sites you can find through GOOGLE, I suggest you have an attorney file your papers for you. In your case, paying the $3000 may be worth it.

I say this again ---- I am more than happy to answer questions IF it is clear that a poster has done some research and made the effort to find the information. If that is not apparent, I shall decline. I am not your attorney/consultant and I am fairly sure that you can find someone in your area to hold your hand for the right price.

What steps did we take in your situation? We researched, spent a couple of hours online figuring it out. Then asked some questions. Best wishes and good luck.
