What is your H1b income ?

I dont know how you guys make so much money but here is what i make

10 Dollars an hour
Thanks

Hi All,
My salary is not that bad, but I am surprised that you make such a low salary just like I am surprised that some one in Ohio and "South Texas" makes $118,000 and $150,000. I believe you guys...no doubt about it.

Would you guys (the Ohio guy and "South Texas" guy) mind sharing why you are paid such huge salaries? What kind of value you bring to your employers that make them pay you such high salaries. You guys appear no to have more than 6 years of experience. That is quiet eye-opening and surprising.

I am asking these questions is a positive spirit. Pelase do not mistake me. My intention is to understand why I am not getting paid that much ot more accurately what value should I bring to the employer to get paid that kind of money. I understand that there is "supply and demand" factor that determines salary in most cases.

Thanks for your time and expecting your honest replies as always...

high paying h-1bs

I think some of the people with the high salaries are non-IT people like Medical doctors. These people have a doctorate degree (more schooling), undergone very rigerous >3 year residency training paying <40K/year for 100 hour weeks and currently work in dingy small towns in rural texas, ohio and minnisota to get stuck in backlogged visa process.

Even IT (especially hardware design) can get such high salary. At the company I worked before, chip designers could get close to 200K w/ or w/o GC. These employers are mostly big foreign companies having offices in the US. They usually do not give employer stock option benefit , therefore they need to pay much more to keep the people.

As per the IT jobs, it is mostly the supply and demand. Back in '99 i know some Java programmers are paid even upto $400/hr. The job does not necessarily has to be the toughest. Only time, supply and one's ability to stay top will tell how long one can make that money.

There are always speciality fields that pay high salary in a stable job after doing MS/Phd in US. Doing new things faster always pays higher in my opinion.

I think the net present value of a PhD is negative. I am married to one PhD in medical field and I did a small research on their earning potential.....it seems negative. I don't know about other professions.

The reason I mentioned it was to suggest that there are a few very good jobs (salaries) out there. I rejected it because I would prefer sales over development.

Its odd that you consider this too high a sum. Further, you probably are not aware of the possibilities due to which you are remarking that the employer must be really dumb or that I am a good salesperson. This type of salary is perfectly normal though it may be very rare.
