What is the fastest way to re-open I-485

How long it can take to re-open I-485?
I have heard it could be done in 48 hours, but don't know the details.

--------------- where did you hear that? mail can take more than 48 hours to reach USCIS.

I thought it could be filled electroniclly or may be sent via Express Mail.
I heard it from friend of my friend, may be it's not true.
May be somebedy knows how long it takes from the moment when application has been sent to the moment of apllication status change.

My I-485, was denied. I got a travel document I-571 with a status Asylee that is valid till next year. and have tickets to Greece in 3 days, but I am afraid to leave USA, without reopening I-485.

--------------- dont go out of US. contact your lawyer for legal advice and most of us dont know much about Asylee cases

here is a fact sheet about me

I am a US CITIZEN Married to a AFGHAN (i known for years) I moved to Kabul last year.. We got married in May 2006 We filed all paper work in Pakistan (required to file there for I-130 ect)

Now, when were were at the embassy in Pakistan they advised me to travel back to the states and await for his arrival! She than gave us a another form to fill out the 3.5 packet (information regarding taxes and assest ect)
Well they just sent me a email saying he has to return to pakistan to submit this packet!! i dont understand... this process at all..

So once he travels to pakistan from kabul to submit this information they said once approved he will get a another letter from the embassy letting him know when the interview will take place!!

So since i qualifed for everything else.. Lived in Kabul for 6months we are approved the whole 9 .. then what is this non-sence about him being a Immediate Relative??

From everything you read.. does this sound right?? i am lost...
and kinda sad cuz i have been back in CA for over 2.5 months just waiting for him to come here!!! please help

Even if you I-485 has been denied your asylum status still valid together with all the benefits attached like travel document or work permit. If you want to go abroad and renew 1-485 application, it will be prudent to verify that your are not abandoning willbe renewed application. talk to a lawyer.
