I had applied for an H1B and got it stamped as well. But I have not been able to leave my present organization so far, due also to the fact that I have heard a lot about H1B holders getting very bad treatment in USA by their employers.
I am seriously thinking about not going to USA at all despite having got my visa stamped. However, my prospective employer has threatened that they will treat me as an absconder and inform the immigration department in the USA about it. They say that in such a case, it will be very difficult for me to get a visa even through any other employer in future.
I want advice on if I should directly communicate with the US consulate or other official agencies (which?) to tell them I have no plans of absconding and I have no plans of going to USA to take up employment with the said employer either - that my plans have got changed (regarding employment in the US with my current H1B sponsor) and that I wish my H1B stamping to be declared null and void without any prejudice to any future attempts for employment in the US.
I seek opinion on what harm may fall upon me if I choose not to go to the US and my prospective employer chooses to report to the immigration department.
Thank you very much.
