Hi

I got ADMITTED, then CLASS UNTIL and that's where they wrote ARC and office wrote OUT 8 MOS what does the OUT 8 MOS meas please someone help ASAP.

Thank you

How long have you been out of the country on this trip? The reasonable guess would be 8 months, unless officer made a mistake.

The reason he wrote this is that you were out for more than 6 months. Being out of country for more than 6 months but less than 12 months is not a problem this time, but if your next trip is also more than 6 months and you already have this annotation in the passport from a previous trip, then your permanent residency will probably be questioned.

I was out of the country for 8 months and i will be going out of contry in sep 2011 and comeing back in April or May 2012 is it going to be any problem.

Thank you

It will likely prolong the wait for your filing for naturalization as you will be seen as having disrupted continuous residence for naturalization purposes and continuing to show little ties to the United States.

Given that they recorded the last trip details (they anyway do have that in the computer, but it is a reminder to the next CBP officer). Given that your next trip will also be more than 6 months, you can expect to be scrutinized in more detail.

You will be better off getting a re-entry permit even though you are not planning to stay out for more than a year. You were out for 8 months, then came for less than two months and are again planning to be out of country for 8 months - so far it appears that you live most of the time outside of the country. So, I would say you may very well have problems next time.

Did you tell the officer about this 8 month trip? or did he write this piece of information from his computer records without asking you?!?
