Hi everyone,

I'm new on this forum, have been reading it for months. I write from the EU.

I'd like to ask you what are the steps of getting a green card and work authorization?

My father (46) has been in the US for 6 years, entered the States on a visitor visa but now he is out of status.
He is going to marry a USC woman in weeks. She is just finishing the university and starts working this summer, since she is just 23.
Since the woman has not worked so far, her parents could support my father's application. They live in one household. The marriage is a real-thing, not just a fake one... They live in NJ.
My father has a degree in engineering, does it matter?

Can you guys help me telling how to apply for a green card and what are the exact steps of the process? I've read a lot about it, but I'm comfused and dont know what form when and where should be filed...

Do you think they should hire an attorney in this case?

Who should be the the main sponsor and who the joint-sponsor if they fill out the forms? Does the woman has to be the main sponsor even if she never worked before, or might that be her parents?

yes, she is still his (main) sponsor, and her parents will be co-sponsors.
