Were we in Status???

H1B and H4 were valid upto Sept 2001
Applied for H1B and H4 visa extension in June 2001
Applied for AOS in November 2001
Received approval for H1B and H4 visa extension in December 2001

My question is :-

Were my wife and I in status when we applied for AOS as we had not received our visa extension by then. Also the lawyer says that our visa extension receipts were not sent with the AOS application.

Our Fingerprinting in scheduled for tomorrow and we dont want to get denied after having gone through this long process.... any help appreciated.

You were in status...

Please post one message only. Don\'t forget your netiquette when you are frantic.
Preserve all the receipts as well as approvals. The worst that can happen is that you might get a RFE about this. If you respond it appropriately you will not have any problem.

Yes you were in status...

As long as you applied for your H1 and H4 extensions before they expired you are in status. You apparently did, so you do not need to worry.
 
You are Ok

I think you are OK. When you filed for an extension, you are in status until they decide your h1-b extension. As previously stated, keep all ur documents
