Hi,

Recently got my TN for 3 years. Joined a IT consulting organization with office in Buffalo and weekly travel to clients around US.

My queries

1) Relocated to Buffalo with my family still based in Toronto. I am planning to drive back every Friday to Toronto to visit my family. and drive back on Sunday I have a Nexus card. Would I have an issue coming back weekly either in the US or Canada Border.

2) Do I need to change my Canada vehicle registration, cancel my Canada driving licence & get my New York driving licence. I do not plan to drive much in Buffalo...most of my driving would be between US and Canada borders during the weekends.

Kindly advice,

1. No, you can do what you want, even daily commute.
2. since you are not really giving up Cdn residency (neither for tax purposes nor other) you do not have to import your car nor change your DL, or plates. your place in buffalo is in effect a temp arrangement == but you could if you wish, but I don;t see the advantge, unless your Cdn insurance company decides you are spending too much time in US for your coverage to be valid, which you might want to look into, That might be the decidfing factor.
