Was arrested for petty theft and getting ready to apply for USC. Should I??

Folks,

I was arrested 3 years ago for petty theft. Total cost of the item was $18.45. After taking Lawyers advice went with probation and other fines. I have completed my 5 years in GC and am eligible for USC. Should I apply or should I wait for few more years? Any advise, experience will be greatly appreciated.

It depends on exact charge and if probation has ended. Petty theft is a CIMT and as such you should wait at least 5 years after conviction before waiting to apply. In some instances it can also be a deportable offense, so make sure you discuss this with an immigration lawyer before applying.
