Folks, I like to visit Dubai & Thailand. I have not yet received my plastic but got my I-551 stamp on my National passport. What would I have to do? And if any one has practical experiences please share. I mean the procedures & also the visa fees, airport experiences with the I-551 stamp etc.

Why would you want to travel to an "Arab" nation especially knowing that it will FLAG you in the future where change of immigration status is concerned?

I am not saying you are a terrorist, but think about it? If you ever plan on applying for citizenship, I would imagine that May create some problems that you went there. For whatever reason. No matter how honest your visit is.

Pinkie,

You've obviously have never been to Dubai. Why on earth would visiting a country like the UAE would create a problem?

From JFK Emirates Airlines flies twice a day 7 days a week to UAE. Saudi Arabian Airlines fly 3 times a week and these flights are usually full. What does that tell you?
Your concern is appreciated but that is a littel too blunt. Individuals from Arab countries are still getting their citizenships. So what if someone makes a work related trip to Middle East?

UAE is one of the biggest Allies of USA just like Jordan or Egypt. I don't see any problem going there. There are thousands of people visit Dubai every month from U.S. Attique my friend. You will need a visa sponsor either from one of the hotels in Dubai or the Airline itself can arrange that. Check with the consulate. I went their this past january. Absolutely loved it!!

Before we jump on pinkie. We should know that its a fact that racial profiling is high in this country. You can all say "its ok" and etc but in reality during citizenship time, it takes longer for people from muslim country than others to get immigration benefits. There is a lawsuit about it actually.

My uncle who is a U.S Citizen for the last 20 years had the question asked to him when he entered that "Have you been to the middle east?"

That is true but it should not discourage people to visit Middle East.

Thank you IWANTMYGREENCARDNOW. It was not a personal attack, more of concern for person making this decision. Is it worth it? thats all I ask. If it is then go ahead and hopefully it won't be a red flag in the future.

Who gives a shit. If somebody wants to travel to Middle East let them travel, don't scare people with your opinions. Nothing will happen. Everybody have rights to travel wherever and whenever they want (does not apply to COP).

ayyubov : Get a life dude. You already got your greencard and still launching around this website? LOL and you have the nerve to come here and say who cares??? If you didn't care, you wouldn't be reading these boards. Common sense dude.

If someone doesn't care or want other people's opinions, they DO NOT post on a public website.

I have an opinion and that is why this boards are set up. If you don't want to read it and it has no relevance to your life, then guess what? You would not have time to read it or take it to heart.

Move on.

i would like to share a small piece of information with everybody on here, a none middleastern people seem to worry a lot more than the middleastern ones themselves when it comes to security issues, don't mean to attack any one but i'm an ARAB myself and people always ask me if i have any racial profilng incidents or hard time with the immigration, things might be taking a little longer but i certainly don't think i'm under the microscope for the fact that i know i'm NOT a terrorist. Last month i was in Europe and when i came back to the states the IO took my RTD and inspected it he put the stapm needed for re-entry i was let in without a single question asked, absolutely nothing but "have a nice day" unlike a lot of none arab people whom we have seen on this forum that have been questioned and in fact some of them are threatened to lose their status.
visiting an arab nation doesn't automatically raise red flags, the good news is that there are thousands of arabs working for the FBI and the CIA to assure the govenment that is not every arab or muslim is a terrorist. Now you can take my word everybody FBI and CIA know 100% that middleastern in USA are clean but they are doing their job so they won't get their behind chewed up again for not doing their job right to prevent 9/11 from happening.

BTW: my asylum was approved 2 weeks after 9/11

Pinkie, first of all u didn't get my point and jumped to conclucions. What I meant is that US Government could care less if you travel to middle east. You are trying to scare people off from doing that. I repeat myslef that nobody from Government cares about this issue.
Second of all I'm not the only one who got GC and still participates at this forum. Seems that you are the one who don't have a life and even scared of traveling. But that is your problem and don't try to influence other people.

I travel 3-4 times a year to Europe and Asia and never had any problems. So chill out!

Pinkie....what are you talking about? How would travelling to Dubai FLAG his change of immigration status? This is the dumbest statement I ever heard on this forum.

14Ksusha I totally agree with you. Actually it's not the dumbest thing I ever heard on this forum but definitely can make it to top 10.

I think the problem here is that..U.S has made traveling to middle east as something bad...The only bad stories you hear is about a bad guy going there for getting bad info..however millions of people travel in and out daily

A lot of general public who have no "need" to travel to middle east think that its a big no no if you do since it may raise red flags. Its the media to blame for that.

..but if you haven't done anything wrong then you shouldn't be scared of anything...

So I think pinkie's intentions weren't bad but just a way things can be taken the wrong way..

I think the problem here is people's lack of knowledge of countries, cultures, and current international affairs, which produces this kind of statements. I mean, for God's sake, Dubai is a major tourist destination and hang-out filled with nightclubs and shops. UAE is the richest country in the Middle East, a US's ally and one of the biggest importers of US goods. Atique should go and HAVE FUN! Hit those nightclubs and dance your shoes off and celebrate your GC. For most people, it is actually a hot vacation spot. But for those whose travel highlights come down to Disneyworld and Ocean City in Maryland, it is definitely an 'Arab country' where terrorists live.

Atqiue,

I have lived in Dubai for a very long time and its like living in Europe. First of all they don't accept RTD so you must have your NP. Second you will require a visa you can request it from Emirates Airline if buy a ticket from them. Just go to one of their offices in the US and they will take care of it I think the cost is 100USD or less and they fly JFK-DXB non stop I think daily. Your toursit visa will be for 30 days with a validity of 60 days to enter the country.

Now if you have no family in Dubai there are plently of hotels you can get a 5 star for 110USD per night plus taxes. Rent a cars are cheap so is gas you can get a decent car for 200-300 USD for a week or two. Food is cheap so is shopping. As for the INS they don't care what country you have visited as long as you don't have a criminal record anywhere you are good.

Let me know if you need any other info.

Atique, I am sorry that you have not gotten any answers back after 17 posts.
I was in Thailand 4 months ago as you know about my trip. Visa processing was really easy here. I think I paid $24 for it + postage which is necessary(overnight or something).
I went to Bangkok, and another city Pattaya which has the shore and water so you can enjoy you time there,, But better than that one is Phuket which you will mostly see Americans overthere. I think you will have a good time.
Even you can get a Tour from the US to Thailand for a cheaper price, I dont have any experince with that, but on the way back to the US, I saw whole bunch of Americans which got the Tour ticket for really good price. You may want to search for that also.(Let me know if you need more help)

For Dubai, I got to tell you that I've never been there in my life. I tried after I came to the US but since they dont accept Travel Document and I dont have passport I dont think about it till my AMerican Passport. It may raise some question when they do background check, but I wouldn't even bother, Dont think about it because we are all in that list no matter what.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Nas
You are great Nars as always.
Atique.
