Hi,
I am currently on J-1 visa as an au pair (no HRR), i already extended my J-1 and it will expire in Sept 07. The family would like me to stay and employ me as their nanny.
1) can they sponsor my GC?
2) can i apply for GC on my own?
3) what other options are there?

They'd need to file a Labor Certification and search for qualified US workers, and then if none were found you would need to wait several years for an immigrant visa.

2) can i apply for GC on my own?

You could apply for the DV lottery, if you come from an eligible country.

3) what other options are there?

Marry a US citizen.

A few weeks; the problem is that your employers need to advertise the position and if a qualified American resident applies, your LC will be denied.

if approved, can i file for EAD too?

No; you must wait for an immigrant visa petition to be approved and a visa number available for you. That'll take ~4 years or so.
