Waiting process for GC

Hi, Can please someone give me some information, I applied for my green card (based on marriage) before 2 months and nothing change after that. I found out that i need to get Receipt Notices from the USCIS(around 14-30days), but still nothing. Is this something that i should be worry about or i just need to wait a little longer? The other thing is that i still didn't do the medical examination but just because my lawyer is telling me i need first to be approved with this documents... is this right? I start being suspicious.

Does advanced parole will provide me save trip to my country and return to US while I'm still waiting for my GC? My lawyer said that i should not use this too...

Thank you

What did you file? Did you file the I-130 and I-485 concurrently? If you are in the U.S., that's what you should have done. Unless you entered on a fiancee visa, in which case you would not file I-130. What is your situation?

The medical is a required supporting document for the I-485, so you needed to have had it done before filing.

Yes, you should worry if you haven't gotten a receipt in that long. Did you send it to the right place? (Concurrent I-130 and I-485 should have been sent to the Chicago Lockbox.) Did you have a tracking number for the package? Do you know if it was delivered? Have your checks been cashed yet? Did you send the right amounts for the checks ($420 for I-130 and $1070 for I-485)?

You should have filed for advance parole and EAD along with the I-485. Yes, once you get advance parole, you can use that to travel outside the U.S. before you get your GC, unless you've had long periods of "unlawful presence" before.

Which forms did you file and where did you send them? Did you send it by a method with a tracking number so you can check if it arrived? Did you check your bank account to see if the check has been cashed?

I entered legally and I am here with my spouse as illegal now since my J-1 expired in December of 2012. I was told this is not a problem since i got married a couple of months before December while i was still on my J-1. I applied for both I-130 and I-485 and they respond to me at the end of February by phone that they have my application. I still can not understand how they accept my application without my medical examination...?!?! I don't know anything about my package since i did everything by my lawyer.

I applied for advance parole too, and i can't understand why is my lawyer telling me to not, when obviously a lot of people are using this permit.

Please tell me what do you think about I-485 form without my medical exam. I'm suspicious about my lawyer sincerity and expertise.

We just gave a check to the lawyer and he should pursued everything after.

They may have sent the receipt notice to your lawyer. Follow up with the lawyer about what happened to it.

If your lawyer didn't tell you about the medical, that's incompetence and you need to ditch that lawyer and revoke his G-28 from your case.

Is your J-1 subject to the 2-year home country residence requirement? If yes, your lawyer should have also told you about that and the need to apply for a waiver.

Who is "they" which responded to you about having the application? The lawyer? Or USCIS?

Perhaps it's because you overstayed the J-1. However your overstay was less than 180 days so you shouldn't have a problem traveling with Advance Parole.

I asked him about the medical exam.and his respond was to not worry about that now. I've got the call from immigration service from Bronx,NY that they have my application.
I'm not a subject to the 2-year home country residence requirement.

I assumed he didn't send the I-485 form at all...(if he wanted to keep my 1070$for longer!). Will this make my process go slowly than usually?
I'm impatiently wait for my EAD too, since i can't work legally and I'm stuck at home!

Can i apply by myself for I-485 since my lawyer did for I-130. I'm planing on doing my medical exam.tomorrow. I already have my immunization done,so i hope this will not going to take a lot of time...

Thank you for your information. I'm glad i decide to introduce my case to this page. I could be stuck forever with this lawyer. I am running my process by myself from tomorrow. Thank you again.
