hi, guys, my friend is waiting for individual hearing, he is going to book a flight, fly nonstop from new york city to honolulu, and then come back, do you know if he needs to go to the custom? would it be ok for him? thank you in advance.

Please tell him to not do that. I read about one guy who has withholding of removal who almost got deported for going to Hawaii.your friend has to go to the custom.you can check the article i'am talking about it was published by NYtimes.

alphadi, thank you for taking the time for replying me and looking for the report for me.

I studied through the article, the guy had the trouble and went through custom was because he went to America Samoa, which is an unincorporated territory. So it should be very different with Hawaii, Hawaii is one of the 50 states of the country.

I think there's a different idea of the states and territory, for example, virgin island and guam are territories, so they had issues to reenter the mainland. but state is a different thing. so flying to hawaii is no difference if we flying to california?

There are no immigration checks for flights to Hawaii. My friend just went and came back, and only took his DL.
