Waiting Asylum decision

that’s the thing I really do not understand. You asked me to pick up the decision. And then delay the decision. Why? I have waited for 10 years for the interview. Why are you putting more weight onto my shoulders?!

It’s because they have a very short staff and high volume of cases, but if they tell you it’s going to be a mail out then expect at least 4 month then years!

Interview- April 30 2025 at the newark office

The officer asked my school certificate to email him during the interview since i was a F-1 student. emailed the certificate on May 1st. (idk if it is a good thing asking my school certificate) and handed me a piece of paper to come pick the decision up on 14th of May.

Decision is pending.

fingers crossed.
Hey, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I also had my interview at the Newark Asylum Office.

Here’s my timeline:
April 2, 2025 – I submitted my I-589
April 22 – Interview was scheduled
May 21 – I completed my interview

I brought an interpreter, and the whole interview lasted about three and a half hours. I didn’t take a break during the process — it was intense, but not confrontational. The officer was actually very professional and respectful, and the overall atmosphere felt pretty decent.

At the end, I was given a receipt to sign, and they told me to come back in two weeks to pick up the decision in person. But honestly, I feel like I might get a call earlier like you did, and they might just switch it to mailing the result instead.

I’ll make sure to update once there’s any news.
Wishing you the very best — hope everything works out in your favor!

Hi guys. So I had my interview done last week. After we were done, officer said she normally doesnt do it but she is gonna do it this time and submit my background check right away and said stay out of trouble at the end.
So is that a good sign???? Do you think how long will it take to have the decision? Los angeles office.

i brought an interpreter as well but i felt relaxed and did my interview in English. the interpreter helped me for a couple of words that did not come to my mind at the time and we had laughs at times lol. i did take 30 mins of break. lasted for 3 hours. Fingers crossed for both of us man! :)

I was interviewed yesterday and the officer asked for my transcript and graduation certificate as well. Let me know when you get your result!

It was alright, lasted 2hrs. There were some tricky questions so idk if I answered them correctly :/ at the end she gave me a note with the pickup date/time, said she might not have a decision within 2 weeks so I’ll need to watch out for calls.
do you remember them? yes or no questions?

Yes, still waiting for a decision from Feb 13. I wonder if anyone got a decision from Chicago AO recently
May you all get good news soon , I remember abt 5 yrs ago waiting for interview and was telling myself better to wait for interview than wait for decision but I found out it makes no difference, the anxiety is unbearable n unhealthy.

You can say that again it is so frustrating to have to wait to get a work permit as well
