Wait Period before filing for Citizenship

Hello,

Picture this scenario. An application is eligible to apply for Citizenship in May (4 and 9 months). She returns back from a trip abroad (4 months) in April. Can she still remain eligible to apply for it?
 
She can apply for it (or not) any time in the rest of her life where she still satisfies the requirements.
 
Before the 4 month trip, how often did the applicant travel? Long back-to-back trips? If not, then there's no problem as long as the applicants main residence in the US doesn't change.
