Hello guys i have a question regarding about Voting because i really not sure if i have voting before but i dont think i did. anyways .. what if u in doubt between yesw i did no i didnt. what should u check ? Yes or No.

now let me say this .. on n400 application Part 10.#2 and 3 it says ..

2- have you ever registered to vote in any federal, state, or local election in the United states?

3-have you ever voted in any federal, state, or local election in the Unite states?

so what does this mean ?

now let me say this. we know sometimes when we go to the store we see some people standing there asking people to vote for Gas and light price or to vote for electricity price something like that. is this what they looking for ????

Thanks for help.

California propositional voting requires you to be registered as a voter, which in turn requires you to be a US citizen. First find out if you registered to vote and if you actually voted before answering the N-400 questions on voting.

Contact the secretary of state and find out if you are registered or not. If you are, then I would not want to be you :)

When you sign a piece of paper outside the grocery store saying you are for lower gas prices (or to expand the school district, recall the governor etc.), you are signing a petition. This is not voting.

On the other hand, if you stood in line and punched some holes on a ballot sheet(or used a computer monitor) to elect the governor/mayor/senator/congressman then you voted.

But, if you're not sure, follow Bobsmyth's advice and check whether you're registered to vote.

You don't want to give the wrong answer to this question.

If all you did is sign a petition outside a grocery store you are fine (as far as I can see). That's not voting.

It's not voting, but (in Texas at least, and I suspect elsewhere) you have to be a US citizen for your entry on a petition to be valid if that petition is against the government (at any level). Therefore, it could be argued that if you did sign such a petition then you have implicitly claimed to be a US citizen.
