I would like to join. I contacted my congressman's office (John Carter - Cypress, TX) about my AP application earlier. Their office staff appear to be willing to help.

Thanks

picsarus,
Thanks for joining the fight.
I have added you for your district as the volunteer. Please fax/mail/hand-deliver the petition to your congressman. You should also attend any town hall meeting by your congressman.

Count me in

I am from Greenville, NC. I have contacted John Edwards office in Raleigh. Count me towards NC VOLUNTEER...

tips

Thank you folks for your efforts.

Here are some tips to get a response. Please mention the following to generate interest from your politicians.

1) Please mention that you are a member of immigrationportal which has more than 60,000 members and that the information that will be received by you from the office will be relayed to these folks.
2) Mention your problems. Just don’t tell that your 485 has been waiting for 15 months. Tell them how long ago you started your GC process 4 years and the problems that has created for you.
3) In the letter don’t just ask for help on your case. It is sure to elicit a response from the politician’s office saying that TSC is currently working on Feb 01 and you have to wait your turn. So instead ask their office to contact you back with details about when TSC/USCIS is planning to allocate resources to adjudicate “Employment Based 485’s” and reduce its backlog.
4) Offer that you are available to be contacted for more information regarding the delays etc.
5) With the letter you send also print this page out to show the sorry state of affairs at USCIS http://uscis.gov/graphics/shared/aboutus/statistics/msrsep03/BENEFIT.HTM which would show how bad a job USCIS is doing and how they have displayed it in their own website proudly. Anyone should be able to interpret this simple graph.

This is a good time for doing such efforts given the upcoming elections and remember the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
