Visitor visa for my mom; I am US citizen

Hi all,

My mom is having interview for visitor visa at chennai consulate in the first week of Jan.

How is the process during interview? How long she has to wait? what will happen once enter the consulate? So that I can inform my mom in detail. Once the interview is done is there any different exit to come out of consulate?

If they are taking the passport that means they will give visa?

Since I am a US citizen, this is first time my mom is applying for visitor visa, what is her possibility to get visa?
