Visa extention and I130

I applied for visa extention for my Mom and later filed I130 to get her green card. I received a REF for visa extention application, now since I already applied for I130 do I need to do a followup for visa extention application? I got LIN for I130 before her visa expired. Any one had been through this issue?

if you only filed I-130, your mom doesn't have any status at all. So, yes, unless you want your mother to be illegal, you need to reply to RFE and get the extension.


If you are a citizen, you should also file for AOS (I-485) - that will give her a legal status.
