Verification,waiting for oath

We are waiting for an oath date in LA. My husband interviewed on Aug. 17, and a lot of people have interviewed after him and are scheduoled for the Sept.26 date. We made an inquiry and they said his data is in verification status. What does this mean and could he languish here awhile? thanks
 
It means that a supervisor just needs to check the information on file. By law, they have up to 120 days from interview to adjudicate your case.
 
If you don't mind the question, but this sounds a bit Greek. Do you have a sense what kind of information they are talking about as "verifying"?

It could be anything on the application including past addresses, tax returns, travel dates, etc to make sure everything adds up.

yeah i was wondering that myself...thank you. I just don't think we'll make the Sept. 26 oath now... :(
