FP done in March 2008? You've only applied a little over 3 months ago..the entire process takes 5-7 months. Be patient..you'll get your interview notice in May.

Be patient. I don't see anything extraordinary on your timeline. You should have been frequenting this forum a year and a half ago, there you would have seen some "black holes" :) (I mean the problems caused by the last fee increase).

Fingerprints are done last year for I-751( removal of condition for GC) and when I called USICS IO told me that FP are good for 15 months, so till June 13 2009.

I'm not in panic of course becouse my application is going slower but I can see on this forum that most of February applicants already got their interview letters and some people from March....And I wonder what is going on with my application???

I understand and black hole is the best term :)

Your FP are still current. But I think you are doing a good thing in calling them to stay on top of it. When you call make sure you talk with a 2nd level IO as they have more data on your file then the firsst representative.

One of the main reasons to go into the black hole in N-400 is getting stuck on name check, but even that seems to be much better nowadays. If you see that you are left behind compared with other people in your same local office (remember, you can't compare local office to local office, only in the same local office) by about a month or month and a half, and depending on how nervous this makes you, you can consider scheduling an InfoPass. I wouldn't recommend you to do this at this time. I woulc consider 8 months naturalization as normal, anything better than that is icing on the cake. I understand that a lot of people naturalize faster nowadays, but if you are not in a hurry to sponsor anyone for immigration I would recommend you to take it easy for now and don't pay too much attention to this.

 What date, now?

Hi there.
I think you are fine. If you want to hear about black holes, look at my timeline.

N-400 mailed September 5th 2008
Priority date September 10th with a letter saying I would receive notification of interview date within 90 days.
Fingerprinted in October 2008.
Yellow letter saying "After complete review of your file we have decided you need to bring your drivers license and passport to your interview".
Since then....NOTHING.
I have had 2 infopass appointments, the first one a complete waste of time and they said I was still within normal processing times and to come back in a month.

I went back to inquire again in April and then was told my file was in Nebraska! The IO said "I can see why you are concerned". I am in Virginia. They have no idea why my file is in Nebraska. My local processing office is Fairfax, Virginia.
That was 2 weeks ago. I still have no interview letter. They said they would put in a request for my file to be sent back to Virginia. But at this point I am tired of waiting for the letter to arrive for the interview. It's disheartening. I am at almost 8 months and still no interview date.

I know I am in a different area to you, but there are people in my area who filed in February 2009 to exactly the same place I did and they have already had interviews. I was told my FBI name check and fingerprint check is all fine, so there is no reason my application should be taking this long.

Hang in there. Yours seems to be going just fine. :)

USCIS "Black Hole" Indeed

Hi All,

I'm new to the site and have been reading everyone's experiences with the N400 process, so let me tell you mine and see if anyone has some thoughts...

My DO is in Jacksonville, FL

N400 App received in TX 10/31/2008
Priority date10/31/2008
FP letter received 11/15/2008
FP done 11/26/2008
Interview letter received 01/05/2009
Interview Day 02/09/2009 -passed

After the interview the Officer asked that I mail her a copy of my wedding certificate, which I overnighted and I know was received because of tracking #...So now on the 9th of this month it will be 90days after my interview and still no oath letter??? I don't get it..especially since my mom had the same office and applied only a few months earlier and got her oath letter three weeks after her interview...Also when I called the 1-800# the put in a request to see what was up... I got a letter saying "Your Application for Naturalization is currently with the scheduler for action. You will be informed when the next action is required on your application"... What does that even mean???? Of course I called again to ask...:mad:waste of time, because no one had an answer, should I be making an info pass appointment??

Oh and I also tried to get some info from an immigration lawyer who said I could be looking at another 3 to 6 months!!! Plus she added that because I was middle eastern it would take longer! I have been here my whole life and both parents, all siblings and both my kids are US Citizens and my husband is Canadian... I don't get it, can what she said really be true??? I was told by the people at the 1-800 # it takes 2months to 120days after the interview...I don't know who to believe...any info would be greatly appreciated!:D Thanks and good luck to those still waiting...

Hi .. I understand your pain as well. I know it is frustrating to go through this process. USCIS have 120 days to respond to your case from the day of the interview, so you should be getting an answer shortly. If the 120 days are over and you still have not received a response, you can take legal action against them. I would keep calling the 800 number. Ask them to transfer you to an Immigration Officer. They would have more access to your case. Good luck

Wow mustafa34kc... looks like it took you almost two years!!!! That is just crazy...I'll try to call again and let everyone know if I get anymore info...Thanks mustafa34kc

Did you received any N-652 form with either Congrats or Decision cannot made... checked on it?

yes I did...The officer said she would check the box that said she couldn't make the decision until she got my wedding certificate and then she would recommend the file for approval... I wionder if that is what is holding me up?? Does this mean anything to anyone??

You should schedule an Infopass and ask to speak either to the IO or the supervisor to find out what the hold up is. I would remind them that the 120 days limit is almost up for them too

Ok so I scheduled an appointment for the 11th..this way it's after the 90day mark...we'll see what happens...are there any particular questions I should ask...also if they have everything in order do you think they would be willing to do my oath right then and there..:rolleyes:I know wishful thinking, I really want to be done with this...ok so I will keep you all posted..Thanks again

Good luck on the 11th. Just ask them the status on your case, what is causing the delays since you provided all the information they asked you to provide. I am not sure if they will give you the oath right away, you can ask if they do same day oath or not ? nothing to lose for sure if you ask :D

Hello All!

So I went to my info pass appointment and they told me that my case was approved!!!!:D:D:D:D I have to still wait on my oath letter...but they told me the next dates for June 11 or August 18 for those who are waiting for Gainesville....Well good luck to all and thanks again mustafa34kc!
