Use of AP while having EAD and valid H4 stamping

My wife got her EAD and working with that but her H4 visa is valid till 2006. I applied for AP at the same time while applying for EAD and got IEAD but didn't get AP. I'm planning a trip for India cuz of some emergency. Is AP a must to return from India or she can return with H4 visa that she already has?? Also, how to get an interim AP or emergency AP?? Do they charge anything extra for that??

Try to get an emergency AP at the local office with support docs. It is better to get AP than using H4 to enter.
Next time post in appropriate forum.

I have a similar situation as yours. Our lawyesr said that although wife has valid H4 till 2006, the moment she picks up employment based on the EAD (through AOS), the H4 becomes invalid and she would require AP to travel outside and comeback. We have filed for a regular AP.
