USCIS- FBI Check and Police Background Check

If you have lived in US, USCIS perform the FBI Check and Background Check
When USCIS perform FBI Check and Background Check on an individual what type of info does USCIS obtain? Where he has lived and what state, city?

Can an individual as myself request the same FBI Check and Background Check? Is background check same as police check?
 
Background check is a police check...they don't check your credit score, it isn't for a job or rental place. They check if you ever have committed a crime, etc...I went with my friend and it was done so quickly and for free. Just make sure you ask to get it notorized. nly you know if something willshow up, so if you know you background isn't clean, you might consider not to proceed or you might raise a red flag and being send back to your home country.
