Dear Respected Friends,

I am in the process right now for applying for US Citizenship.

I sent in my application in late October 2010.
I just received a letter telling me on Nov 22, I will have my biometrics (fingerprinting performed). They told me to appear in the Los Angeles USCIS office, at 10:00am in the morning.

I'm really curious to know how approximately how long this takes?

I am in need of flying out of town that day for an interview for school.

I would truly appreciate any help and advice!!!

Thanks a million my friends.
Best wishes,
Molar

First of all, the fingerprints are taken at an application support center (ASC). It is not the USCIS Office where you will have your interview. Make sure you bring your photo ID are described in the appt. notice. They are pretty efficient in getting that limited service done.

Yes it will take place at an application support center on Wilshire BLVD. Thank you for the reminder!
So it sounds I will be able to make my flight at 2:45pm if my appointment is at 10am?

Half an hour is what it usually takes, assuming no crowding. And usually ASCs are not crowded. You can go there a bit early also depending on when they open. If they open by 8 AM, you can try landing up just after 9.

But as Joe said, traffic / commute is your biggest issue. Start counting minutes back from 2:45 and derive when you need to leave ASC, and then plan early / on time FP depending on these calculations.

I was there at 7:45, opened at 8:00 and out of there at 8:20. very quick!
Take your GC with you.
good luck

Yeah, go early, or, you can even try going on an earlier day. They often let people do walk-in biometrics, especially if you explain you have to fly out on the appointment day.
