US Citizenship - Indian Passport about to expire in 5 months

I am planning on filing for my citizenship this week. I am filing on my 5 year term on my Green Card. But my indian passport is about to expire in 5 months ( Will expire on Sep 10, 2009 ).

Does this matter, or do I need to renew it and then file for my US Citizenship?

If you see a reason to travel outside US around Sept 2009 (including emergency travel) you should renew your Indian passport. If not, you don't need to renew it.
I was in a similar situation; I applied N-400 in Nov 2007 and my indian passport expired in May 2008. My oath was in June and since I did not have any need for travel between May and June I did not renew my indian passport.
 
no need to renew it. If you do need to travel then you can pay a fee to renew one in a day or two. My GC and passport was expired when I apply for USC..and that's the reason I apply for USC becuase back then, applying for USC is $99 (if I remembered it correctly) but renwing my GC is also like $129 and renewing my passport was like $100..I decided to go for the cheaper one. LOL
