Dear Members,

My mom & dad will be a US Citizens by next year. I'm married and over 21.
How long does it take for them to sponsor myself & spouse with my 2 children once they become a US Citizen? And during the sponsorship process, will we received a SS# and/or EAD to work in the USA. We are currently in the USA residing.

Thanks.

Check the USCIS bulletin. You will need to maintain legal status on your own until your priority date is current. Her filing grants you NO work priviledges. What is your current status? I hope you are not living here illegally as illegal stay is NOT forgiven for people in your category.

If you are NOT married, please, please, please, ask your parents to file for you NOW. Because you are wasting your time. You'll be in 2nd category but as long as they'll become USC you'll be in 1st one automatically! Waiting for the card is really, really long - like 7 years now for single child of USC and 9(?) years for married. And you HAVE TO BE LEGAL in the country all this time.
