Hello,

I am an US Citizen and planning to apply Green Card for my father, Indian Citizen currently residing in India.

Please advice if I apply now, how long it will take for him end to end, to receive the Green Card. Also, what are the steps that would be needed in this process.

What are the documents that would be needed to apply Green Card for him

Regards!

It takes about Six months if there are no complications and all papers are in order.

Thanks a lot... Thats what I thought, when I looked at other posts. I just got confused when one person that I had a phone chat told that it would take somewhere between 6 to 7 years...

What are the documentation that would be required.

Regards!

It can take up to 6 months for USCIS to approve I-130, after it's approved, the case is forwarded to NVC. Once NVC has the case it pretty much depends on you how soon your father gets his interview. In my case, it took about 4 months to have both of my parents' I-130 approved, and from that point 6 more months until their interview was scheduled. There was a delay though as I got RFE for my original birth certificate that supposedly was not an original copy, anyway, that delayed our process about a month.
We are in no hurry for them to move though as my mom's contract with her employer ends in December so we took our time submitting all paperwork.
6mths for till nvc, or 6mths till gc?

Can you confirm if once filed i-130 no i-485 is needed correct since it will be done abroad, but keep in mind my mother already got her visas and traveled every year to the US.

Pls confirm !
