I moved from Canada to the USA in April 2023 on a TN visa and backed to Canada to join a Canadian company.
My ties to the USA: I rented a place in US; Have US bank accounts etc.
My ties to Canada: My wife and children are in Canada. My house (where my family lives) is in Canada as well. Other Canadian ties, such as health card, passport, bank accounts are still in Canada.
I had employment income in Canada from Jan-April 2023 and July-Dec 2023
I also have employment income in the USA from April - July 2023.
Questions:
1. What is my residency status in Canada for 2023? What are my tax return forms obligations in Canada for 2023? What income do I report in the Canadian tax return?
2. What is my residency status in US for 2023? What are my tax return forms obligations in US for 2023? What income do I report in the US tax return?
