URGENT RESPONSE REQESTED - 30 Day Limitation on Advance Parole?

Dear Members,

I am currently in the US and I am traveling to India (Bombay) on an Advance Parole document that has been issued to me as an I-485 Pending applicant (family based petition). I will be outside of the US for a total of 32 days. I would like to know if there is any restriction that requires me to return to the US under 30 days when traveling on the Advance Parole document. I would greatly appreciate a response as I am only a day away from my scheduled departure. Thank you.

---- There is no restriction to return in 30 days to US, you should check your Advance parole document and you should be back any time to US before the expiry date written on Advance parole. When you come back from Bombay better make 2-3 copies of your Advance parole because at Airline counter at Sahar Airport Bombay they will look at original Advance parole and may ask for Xerox copy of advance parole. Better also keep the copy of I-485 filing receipt with you (at port of entry US airport if they ask I-485 receipt copy you can show it, normally they don’t ask)

Thanks for your response. I am well within the expiry date of my Advance Parole document.

Are you aware of any complications that can arise when traveling on this document. I plan to take all my paperwork along with me as well as the I-485 receipt and my EAD card. However, is there anything else that they require at Bombay when departing from there to come back to the US? I have heard that the problems usually can occur at the departure location in the other country as they require you to have a visa to travel to the US.

----- Many use AP, I don’t see any problems for you, keep all the AP copies with you some service center give you 3 AP original documents some give you 2, when you return to US just show the AP and passport to Inspector at airport

---- Bombay Sahar airport you will show your Passport and AP to Airlines and then to Immigration, they will just check the passport and AP, no problems

-------- YES, if you are coming through London then you need to get UK transit visa, if you are coming through Germany then also they need transit visa, if you go by air France then also you need transit visa. if any confusion check with nearest consulate as I don’t know what airline you are going to use, you can also ask your travel agent, they know about the transit visa. you should have checked this before booking a particular airline.
 
Final Confirmation

For anyone wondering about the issue that has been discussed so far, I did call the Immigration 800 number today and spoke with someone. The person mentioned that there is no limitation on the amount of time I spend outside the United States as long as I return to the United States prior to the expiration date mentioned on the the Advance Parole document.
