i had my lawyer mail my asylum case today iam freaking out as my b1/b2 visa expires in 3 days
my question is if i get stopped by on the streets or some thing like that what proof do i have if i filed for asylum and how normally does it take to send a receipt so i can renew my id at the dmv

First, your B1/B2 visa might expired, but you should check on your I-94 how long are you allowed to be in US.
because sometime the B1/B2 visa might expired in just 3 months after issued, but you might get up to 6 month to stay
inside US legally at your I-94, so it does not matter for your B1/B2 visa to expired as long as your I-94 is not expired.
but if your I-94 is expired, even if you have a 5 year B1/B2 visa, you still be in Out of Status (illegal).
Now I want to ask you,
How can you have ID (with DMW) when you only have B1/B2 tourist/business visitor visa?
but if you have ID, then if you get stopped on the street, just show the Police your ID,
because that ID will prove that you are legal resident.
again please tell me how you can get ID (with DMW) when you only have B1/B2 tourist visa.

The best I know is that the police cannot ask your immigration status and the police will only stop you if you are breaking the law.

hey been long time since i been here thanks for your respond
i use my expired id and copy of the asylum receipt and my passport now
regarding how to get an id with b1/b2 visa all you have to do go to the dmv and provide your lease agreement along with ur passport with the visa shows your expiry date and they will issue an id expire within the same date as your visa
