A friend of mine just received notice of 485 interview for this month. He is employment based. The notice asks for employment letter. However, he is currently laid off. Any body has experience or knowledge, please help.
 
Ask him to join some consulting company and get the new offer letter and run his payroll. Go through with some good company in his local area.

It is a 10 day notice. He is looking for another job. Kind of not expecting an interview this soon. He applied 485 in May 2002.
 
Was his case transferred from TSC to a local office? Does the interview notice ask only for an employment letter or also for other documents to be presented at the interview?

Could you please tell us which local office is interviewing this guy and when his application was transferred?
 
This is very weird! Never heard of a case, where the paperwork is still at the Service Center and the petitioner is summoned for a face to face check at the local office.

Sounds like somebody notified the Dallas district office that the person is no longer employed and that triggered a local employment verification check. Scary!

Did he claim any unemployment benefits
Not sure whether this triggers
 
Ask him to go to some small company and get a letter from them immediate and ask them to put on their payroll (in front paying to that company some thing more for running his payroll). Some companies will do... Check with in your local area....

If there is no alternative, he has to gothrough.

He saught advice from a lawyer and the lawyer agreed to come with him to his interview. I'll keep you all posted for the interview.
 
When did your friend get laid off ? after 180 days ??
was it recently ?
was there something fishy abt his company in Dallas ?
Maybe his ex-employers informed TCS or they maybe getting scrutinised.

Wow, they just give 10 days of notice for interview ?

No surprises in the interview. Just asked name and copied W2. Told him that somehow his interview was scheduled earlier than it should be. So he did not get stamped same day. Got stamped in mid Feb. First time got his A# missing one digit. Stamped second time and corrected.
His ND is May (or early June) 2002. Mine is April 2002.
This is the only 2002 approval I ever heard. Don't know if it is triggered by emergency AP in December.
Indeed, his case was a transfer case (looks like transfered in December), though he did not know it.
His December emergency AP has not been approved yet.

With all these pain/worries he had to go through during those days, that was a well deserved happy ending. I am happy for him.

Way to go BICS, give us good immigrants a break...
 
Some of good things he done in past may came front of him.. God knows ....... anyway ... find good job and get in queue. ask in this fourm if someone can hlep about job
