I was interviewed back in May, 2010 and Passed it. But USCIS didn't give me a oath letter. THey told me that they only have my citizenship paperwork and will need to wait for some other paperwork from other office..I recently filed a service ticket.

I just recieved an email from USCIS as follow:
"Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283."
.

What should I do? Is this not uncommon? Please advise.

Contact your congressperson to inquire about the delay. Also consider contacting USCIS ombudsman office as you approach 120 days after interview mark. If neither get you anywhere, schedule an Infopass a few days before 120 day mark and request to speak with a supervisor. Finally, if all fails consider filing 1447(b) lawsuit after 120 day mark.

Thank you, But is it common these days? I heard a few other people having the same issue. How are they handling this situation? What could have delayed the case?

It is possible your case hit a small snag, but initiating contact with your Congressman/woman would be a good idea. A case can be delayed by an number of things, from an officer who accidentally drops your file behind his desk, missing file from your earlier filing (green card), and your name matches that of a terrorist named Barack Hussein Obama. To handle this situation, you ought to involve Congress people and whoever USCIS has to answer to via legal means. Don't be anxious, and also continue to write status inquiry letters on a monthly basis, it forces them to review and render a decision or continue to hold off...

It seems like you are stuck in namecheck crap, I was in the similar situation and filed 1447(b) on 122nd day of my interview, I got naturalized on 35th day of filing 1447(b).
They will not expedite your name check with FBI until you file the lawsuit.
All of my attempts with ombudsman, congressman, senator and a letter from Rush Limbaugh yielded pre printed generic letters like the one you received.
Goodluck!

Thanks a million...
What is the process of filing 1447(b)...? Do I need to hire an immigration attorney? What is the risk? Did you have to go to court to fight the lawsuit?

You don't need attorney to file 1447(b), you can file yourself. I did'nt have to go to a court date, USCIS will expedite whatever the holdup is after they are served with the summons of court giving them 60 days to respond. They will resolve the issue within those 60 days because they are essentially breaking the law by not adjudicating within 120 days.
