URGENT: need info: got terminated on h1b

hello all,

i just got terminated from my job (i was on h1b). i need some advice how to change my status if i don't get a job offer right away. what is better: going to f1 or going to b2? is there any grace period to apply for a change of status? please help.

There is no set of rule. If you are confident getting a job with in 2-3 weeks and file your H1, you are OK. Otherwise change to F1.

There is only 10 days left to leave the country after termination. Imp things in your situations are:
1. If your employer not informed to USCIS, you are safe. Tell them not to until u find job.
2. You can change over to other VISA so that u can leagally stay only if you think u will get job within a month of termination.
3. Start looking for job and meanwhile apply for Canada VISA. If you get H1b (I-797b) then you have to go out the country and re enter. In this case, you can always tgo to Canada/Mexico to get VISA.
