Urgent! need advise before interview

Hello,

I have an interview scheduled for next week at the Baltimor local office, for I-485. I-140 is already approved.

I have been asked to bring my tax returns, and upon further review, I discovered an obvious mistake there (stupid tax software). So I probably owe IRS some money. Is this likely to come up during the interview? Is it grounds for denying my application?

I have been very worried since I made the discovery, so any advice would be appreciated!

It should not be a problem. As my friend who went for the interview had some small issues with Income Tax return.

Also bTW, can you tell us when was your case transfered to Baltimore.

Thanks

No need to worry. I don't think INS reviews the details of the ITR on the interview. Usually, the interview is very fast, around 10-15 mins probably. Also, if it is an honest mistake, and INS sees the error, the worst thing could happen is they will let you pay it and deal with IRS. Also, did you get a transcript of your tax returns with the IRS? If not, it is better to get it. It is very easy, just call 1-800-TAX-1040 and it is automated. When I was interviewed, the officer took a copy of the transcript, not my tax returns copy.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the tip! I ordered the transcripts from the automated service.

Do you happen to remember how long it took to arrive?

--you will get in 4-5 days, dont worry if IRS transript dont arrive, make the copies of Last 3 year Tax returns, 3 recent pay stubs and Copies, take Driving licence, Interview notice, I-94, Passport any EAD, AP, 3 years W-2 and recent employer letter and interview notice. Baltimore has good officers,b Officer is going to veryfy your info on I-485 and G325 (like fathers name, mothers name) they will take employer letter, look at 3 years W-2, and recent pay stubs (make copy of each document they need only copy and can see the orignal. if you have spouse with you take orignal and copy of marriage certificate, if any child born in US his/her Birth certificate. it only takes 10-15 minutes and they dont ask for much documents.
Good Luck and post your experience after you get GC stamp in passport.

I ordered transcripts recently and they arrived in less than a week (maybe 4-5 days).
Good luck with your interview!

Olddelhi,
Good luck with your interview..... There are some useful checklists in these discussion threads. One other active thread is "485 transfers to Washington".

I am one of those waiting for interview at Baltimore.... Wish you the very best. When you find time, keep the group posted with your updates. If you could throw some light on your transfer dates and other Notice dates, would be helpful for the tracker.

Best wishes and regards

V!
