My 485 RD is 10/19/2001, Case transferred to Cherry Hill, NJ in November 2002 and still haven't heard anything about interview.

My questions are:
Can I apply for unemployment, if so, will it affect my 485 in any way?

How do I apply for unemployment?

What should I take with me to get EAD card?

How long does Cherry Hill take to issue EAD?

Please Help, Thank you.

I am sorry to hear that.

1) Long time back I read in this forum that you can file for unemployment if you have EAD. The drawback for that is if you are the primary applicant and if you file for unemployment then BCIS knows. So I would advise against it, If you are primary.
If BCIS knows they might deny your case.

2) I would advise against filing it.

3) I think you have to send EAD appication form, Photos, old EAD copy , I-485 copy and local office transfer letter to cherry Hill local office(not to vermont) then they will process your EAD. My guess is 2 weeks for EAD processing.

Regarding interview, call Cherry Hill local office and ask them how long does it take.

Good luck.

The difference here is that it's a transfer, and therefore an interview case. There WILL be an interview, and they WILL ask for an employment letter. There's no advantage to flying under the radar with regards to unemployment, so he might as well collect the money while he can.
