Urgent : H1B extension stamping question

Hi,

My friend has a valid H1B stamped on his passport till sep/07 but his his I-94 expired on July 2006. His lawyer applied for H1B extension paperwork and got it approved. He will be travelling to India this week.

Can he re-enter US with the old stamped H1B or does he need to get his passport stamped with the H1B extension at the US consulate ?

His lawyer has mentioned that he can enter US with old H1B stamp. Can anyone comment if this is OK ?

My passportt was expiring by July 2006. So while entering the I-94 was given till Passport expiry date - July 2006 even though H1-B is Valid until 2007. After ebetring I applied for new passport and currently i have passport valid till 2016.

+++++++++++++++++++ Check the H1 approval notice I think he should have I-94 attached(I-94 is NOT WHITE ), EXTENSION approval need to have I-94 also extended, if not contact your lawyer ASAP
