I came on an F1 visa in 2001 and recently got H1b approval in Oct 2004. I am currently residing in Virginia and planning to attend for visa interview @ Matamoros, Mexico by the end of April.

My problem is, I have a passport with 20yrs validity issued at Hyderabad and I saw on the www.indianembassy.org recommending that people with 20yrs passport should re-apply for 10yrs period. I am worried if this could impact my H1 visa stamping when I submit my passport. Has anyone been in this situation? Please advise accordingly.

Thanks much!

----- it is just advice the 20 year passport is still VALID. I have personaly spoken to Embassy of India DC 4-5 months back and they said it is valid document but someone in past faced problems at border that is why they have posted the message on site and if anyone wants new Passport copy with 10 year validity they will provide it with out fees. You are near to DC if you wish you can get new copy of passport from Embassy of India, they give the passport next day after 4 PM

** US Embassy in Delhi also Recognize the validity of 20 year India passport,if you dont have time to renew the passport have the PRINTOUT from below site with you.
