Urgent …Should I attend the appointment without my Spouse…please advise

Hi All

I have an appointment with embassy for DV-2011 lottery and my spouse will not be able to attend the appointment due to some medical operation.

Please advise what to do?.

Should I will go to my appointment without my spouse and show the counsel the letter from hospital?. Then at least I may get my own visa.

Or

I send e mail to embassy to postpone the appointment?

I am so worried because if they postpone the appointment ,may be they fix another appointment in late time whenever there is no more visa available

Need your advice please.

Thanks a lot

I think you should ask them to reschedule the interview citing the operation. If you go by yourself, they may not grant you one for your spouse since they are required by law to see all the applicants in person before granting them a green card. They may even deny you yours,or still reschedule it again on their terms.

I suggest you preempt all this an ask them to move your date to the following month, since visas are unlikely to run out until the month of April/May at the earliest, but they are usually available until September. I'm assuming you're from the Africa region, and this would be my advice. Maybe others can comment on other regions.

I would reschedule, it might take 6 weeks though before your new appointment date....

The rules are pretty strict. Even if the petitioner dies, all other have no right to a GC....

In your case it means that any person not showing up for the GC interview, will automatically be denied.

Good luck with your spouse health:)
