Unemployed

I am unemployed for last 6+ years due to family reasons. But we have been filing Tax returns jointly and my wife is the bread winner. I have some concerns/questions:

1 -What to mention for employment history? Shall I say Unemployed or self employed (as per the instructions if I am working for myself, which I am not clear)

2 - What are the chances of getting thru N-400 process?

3 - Should I staple the application or just a clip?

Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Write unemployed. It won't be a problem, unless your green card was employment-based and you were the primary applicant.

They might ask about your source of financial support over the years; just say your wife supported you. Bring your marriage certificate and tax transcripts if they want to see proof that you have a wife and that she has been earning enough money to support you.

Thanks Jackolantern;

I am the beneficiary as far as I the green cards is concerned.

Aprart from Marriage certificate and IRS return, do I have to prove the bank accounts, house documents, etc..

You have provided proof of your "Americanization" in your post. You have adopted the ubiquitous sexist double-standard that exemplifies the U.S., you, sir, are a "homemaker" or "house-husband" and won't embrace that role openly. You are financially supported by your wife, yet cling to the description of "self-employed". You are long overdue for naturalization.

If you are applying based on 3 years of marriage to a US citizen, you need to bring the bank statements, house papers, insurance papers, and other such documents to show current evidence in support of your marriage. But you don't need that if you're applying with the regular 5 year rule.

Friends:
I have my interview soon. I have been employed with my current employer for the last 4 years. But before that I was employed for a brief period with the company who did my green card. In the employment section of N400 I did not put any information about this employer since it was older than 5 years. Do you think this will be a problem?

Do I need to worry about carrying employment papers with me ? What are the papers I should carry regarding my current employer and previous employers?
Many thanks.
