Hello all i had this question in my mind but didn't know the answer of it, can you guys give me your toughts and ideas i'll really appreciated.:)

(My question is)
What happens if U.S embassy shuts down in an overseas country due to conflicts/verbaly war/security/threats?

Do they close all the files pending from U.S citizen bringing a spouse?

Do they move the embassy to different country? what about interview do you have to fly to that country to provide your interview?

How long does it usally takes before they can re-start working on cases such as bringing spouse to U.S (from different location of U.S Embassy)?

The answers to all these questions depend on the scenario ad the reason for the closure. If it is temporary or permanent? Are the consular services being shut down or just he Ambassador beign recalled? So on and so forth.

okay well lets say embassy being shut down for long time not just temporary what will happen in that case?

Thanks citizen

but what if there was a war or something so you think embassy will be closed for long time or may be for good and embassy shifted to neighboring country? you think thats what usally happens during the time of war?

I doubt there's going to be a war in Nigeria to cause the embassy to be closed. If there's still an open embassy in Iraq and Afghanistan, there'll be one in Nigeria.

when terrorists bombed the Nairobi and Dar es Salaam embassies in the late 1990's , Visa processing for all of E Africa was moved to the Kampala Embassy.
