Hello everyone,

I am in a situation where I need some help and clarification on when can I apply for my citizenship.

I got my GC through my spouse on Aug 7, 2010. Since today, 7/12/2012, I have made the following trips:

Trip 1:
10/22/2011 - exited US at 12:00pm
10/25/2011 - entered US at 7:05pm 3 Days out of US.

Trip 2:
03/05/2012 - exited US at 11:00pm
03/23/2012 - entered US at 4:00pm 18 Days our of US.

I am currently in US but my wife has found a job in Middle East and is moving there in August. My job has allowed me to work from there as well. My company is a U.S. company, I will still get paid here and I will maintain the followings while I am out of U.S.:
House mortgages, Car insurance, Health insurance, Cell phone, Taxes, and other local memberships.

What I need help is planning the future trips so that I can apply for the citizenship with minimal issue.
Currently, I have stayed continuously for 684 days, ~22 months. (I am not sure if I calculated this correct).

This is what I am planning for future:

Future Trip 1:
Sept 20th, 2012 - Leave U.S.
Jan 20th, 2013 - Enter U.S. 4 months out of U.S.

Future Trip 2:
March 1st, 2013 - Leave U.S.
May 1st, 2013 - Enter U.S. 2 months our of U.S.

These are my questions:
1) When can i apply for U.S. Citizenship?
2) Will there will be an issue in applying citizenship, how can I arrange trips to avoid that?
3) Any other suggestions?

I would really appreciate your help in this matter.
Thanks.

I-140 and I-485 for registered nurses

I am currently residing in US and ready to finish my RN studies within 5 months. I have few potential employers who are ready to hire me and sponsor my filing applications for I-140 and then I-485. I have few questions to clarify about filing applications.
1. Am I allowed to file I-485 immediately after the approval of I-140? One source of information is telling me I have to wait until my priority date becomes current (Est 6 years)
2. If I do a premium process for I-140, how long does it take for the approval?
3. When I file for I-485, what is the minimum dependant age that I can include with the application? Is it 21 or 26 years old? My concern is that my daughter becomes ineligible under my I-485 application.

I appreciate your answers.

You have options to discuss with your lawyer and employer. You might be eligible for expedited naturalization under INA 319(b) based on your wife's job IF her job qualifies. IF not, then you may be eligible to take advantage of extended absence benefits under INA 316(b).

Please start your own thread in the I-485 section. Your question has nothing to do with US citizenship.

Any additional trips for 2013? If yes, extended trips during the naturalization process could be problematic. If not, you should be able to apply in May 2013 without a problem (May 9th the earliest, to be exact).

Or you can apply this year if your spouse is a US citizen and the Middle East job meets the requirements for expedited naturalization under Section 319(b), as BigJoe mentioned. See http://www.ilw.com/articles/2006,0525-mehta.shtm
