TSC or NSC

Hello,

I am basically from Atlanta and have a permanent house there. Last year I moved to Iowa on a temporary basis for a job and took an apartment here. Though I have been living in Iowa, I have been actively maintaining a house in Atlanta, paying mortgage, utility bills etc. I can provide proof of residence in both the states. I am likely to go back to Atlanta in few months.

Question -
1. What is my State of Residence ? Iowa or Georgia?
2. Which Service Center should I apply my Citizenship, TSC or NSC?
3. Which one is faster, NSC or TSC in terms of time line?

1) Where did/will you claim residency on your tax form and what address is on your DL?
2) Apply to the service center that covers your permanent address.
3) There's not much of a time difference these days between DOs.

Hello Bobsmyth,

Thank you for your reply. Here are answers to your questions,
1) Where did/will you claim residency on your tax form and what address is on your DL?
I will have to file 1 Federal and 2 State Returns -one for Iowa and another one for Georgia.
My DL is still Georgia and my Car License plate is still Georgia.

2) Apply to the service center that covers your permanent address.

3) There's not much of a time difference these days between DOs.

If I were you, would apply in IA, no one leaves there except you, so your case will processes faster. However, you will need the DL issued by IA to proof residency. Check on this thread to find a thread for IA, and I will send you a gift card to Ruth Chris Steak house...lol!!!

Not sure if would apply to your case in the future, but a friend of mine moved state-to-state while his N400 was pending and his app got rejected. He had to apply one more time and all went fine. It was a 10 years ago or so. So, do not move after your filed the app I guess!

.
On your tax forms you can only claim residency to one state at a time, depending on the number of days you have spent in that state per year.
