Question for Assylum or anyone who can help.

I received my asylum status in January so I won't be eligible for greencard till Jan 2012. I have to go overseas in Feb 2012 for 2 months to work on a film but I don't think my greencard will be approved by then. What are my options? How do I approach Immigration?

Thx

Should have applied for one concurrently with your I485. If I'm not mistaken, it's still free if your I485 is pending and this is your first one.

Someone granted asylum cannot file an I-485 for a year.

File an I-131 for a refugee travel document. You will need to wait to be fingerprinted before departing the U.S. but may have it delivered abroad. IF you have a valid passport that you can use for travel then you won't need to get the RTD before you depart abroad. IF the RTD will be used in place of a passport, you will need to have it in order to board the plane. A RTD is only issued for a one year validity period as of the date of approval so it is good for less than a year when you actually get it.
